Maria Grotell

// Broadway, Commercial Flashback //

Maria (o.s. Härkönen) has been dancing since the toddler. Classical ballet changed at the age of 12 to street dancing, which he also taught for a long time. Maria completed the Footlight EK program in 2003-2005, and has been teaching at our school since 2004. She has also been actively dancing in dance group Five Steps since 2005, and is currently responsible for much of the group’s choreography. In 2007, she spent the fall in New York studying dance and singing at the Broadway Dance Center through ISVP. Maria has a lot of performance experience: as a pre-dancer from 50 Cent's and Busta Rhymes' gigs, Helsinki Dance events, fairs and awards galas, various private events and YLE productions. In addition to dancing, she works as a nurse and enjoys music.

Broadway Show (Open level): An hour for anyone interested in musicals! If you haven’t been into show / jazz dancing before, I recommend another class of either once a week in addition to this lesson. The lesson focuses on the secrets and performance of the theater dance style through various exercises and learning choreography. Much of the choreography is designed to be danced with heels, but it certainly works just as well without it. The most convenient way to get high heels is from Footlight dance equipment store, with a student discount, of course. Elastic, body-hugging workout clothes recommended (no wide legs if you dance with heels). As a teacher, I'm energetic, supportive and accurate, especially draw your attention to the dancing expression and musicality. Warm welcome!
