Outi Kallinen is a multi-talent in dance and music: a teacher, performer and choreographer who started studying dance and music at an early age.
Outi specializes in West African dances; Since the late 1980s, she has studied traditional dance and music in Guinea, Senegal, Burkina Faso and the Gambia in various groups. She has performed with numerous dance, theater and music groups in addition to European countries, e.g. China, Guinea and Senegal. Outi has made several full-length dance theater performances based on African dance and music, and has participated in multidisciplinary theater groups. He has worked as a teacher for more than 30 years, training enthusiasts and vocational students e.g. in art colleges. Outi has been a major influence in bringing African dance to Finland and has organized international courses and performances since the 1990s.
Outi is an inspiring and humorous teacher who makes her students enjoy catchy West African rhythms and dance steps.

TWO DRUMMERS IN THE WORKSHOP |
In the intensive summer courses, West African, especially Guinean traditional dances are danced with live accompaniment by two musicians. There will be joy of dancing and sweaty going! You will get to know both the older tradition with its songs and the energetic style performed by professional dance groups. In the basic course, you can dive into comprehensive movement language and rhythmics in a variety of ways from the basics, in the advanced class the dances are more challenging and the pace is fast. Both courses teach different dances, so you can easily participate in both.
